Beikos and Bensdorp Strengthen Bulgaria Golden Visa Fund

Since Advocate Vasil Markov and his team assisted the majority of Bulgarian citizenship-by-investment applications between 2013 and 2022—mainly through investments in government bonds— Vasil decided to launch a dedicated investment vehicle in line with the new Bulgaria Golden Visa program. This new option is much simpler compared to the old government bond model. When working with bonds, we were always dependent on third parties. Now, by managing our own investment fund, we have better control and smoother processes.
Our Bulgaria Golden Visa Fund is similar in structure to the well-known Portugal Golden Visa funds, but with some important differences. The Bulgarian fund is allowed to invest in real estate and, more importantly, it is an open-ended fund. This matters because investors can exit more flexibly. Of course, if you withdraw your investment early, you will no longer qualify to keep your Golden Visa. It’s also worth noting that while we call it the “Golden Visa,” what Bulgaria actually offers is permanent residency, not just temporary residence like Portugal—despite requiring the same level of investment.
To strengthen and manage this fund properly, Advocate Markov leads the entire structure—legal, organizational, and compliance. Operating an investment fund in the EU comes with serious responsibilities: we must maintain liquidity and capital adequacy, calculate net asset value, report to the European financial regulator (ESMA), follow ESG standards, and more. On top of this, our team also represents the fund before the Bulgarian Financial Supervision Commission and handles client procedures with the Bulgarian Investment Agency, Migration Office and other relevant institutions.
